Hokkaido Chiffon Cakes

I have the chance to try this recipe from Corner Cafe this afternoon. The recipe can actually make 3 big cupcakes, but I made about 8 of medium ones.

The recipe is a success and its my first time getting chiffon cake the right consistency, and I'm very excited of it, I used whipped cream to pump it in instead of the normal pastry cream.

This is a good cake to try.

KK-Kudat Trip Day 3

Today is our last day in Sabah. :(

We checked out from our hotel at 7.15am, went to the kopitiam behind the hotel to have our breakfast (costs us RM9.80 for all that). We went to the market after that to buy some Kudat peanuts before driving back to KK before 9am.

The drive back to KK straightaway took us about 3 hours using the expressway. It was very smooth drive and fast. We stopped by Gaya Street to collect something for friend, then went on for our lunch (chicken claypot rice @ RM6.00 each) at Kedai Kopi Yee Fung. They also have laksa, heard that it is similar to Sarawak laksa but I didn't try it.

After our lunch, we walked back to our car and saw some pigeons.. some more were hiding under the car.

As it was still early to board our flight, we decided to stop by this water village opposite Sutera Harbour and Tanjung Aru beach. The residents of the water village are so friendly and happily posed for my hubby. haha..

We returned our rented car (Viva for RM100/day) at the airport Terminal 2, and straightaway checked in. While waiting to board our plane, we had our snacks at the cafe. The canned drink was RM3.90 each! Oh my....

Sadly, we have to end this wonderful trip and go back to Kuching. It has been a memorable and exciting trip for us. Looking forward to another trip to Sabah again and maybe to other different places then. :)

KK-Kudat Trip Day 2

Early this morning, we woke up at about 6.30am and get ready to proceed with our trip to Kudat. We checked out at the hotel at about 7.15am and drove to Tuaran for our first stop and breakfast.

Upon reaching Tuaran, since it was still early 8am, we drop by the famous pagoda and temple before we headed for our breakfast nearby.

Our breakfast was only at a kopitiam opposite the pagoda. :) Noodle was superb.. can say the best for this trip. Yummy!

After that, we headed for Kota Belud, another 45 mins drive from Tuaran. I did not take any photos here yet but we stopped by the Pasar Tani and hubby took some shots there and then we proceed straight to Kudat (not stopping at Kota Marudu).

On the way up to Kudat after Kota Marudu, somewhere Matunggong, we passed by a bee farm and the gong making village. Went to look-look-see-see as well. :) Rungus Longhouse is after that. If you want to visit these places, must do it before you go to Kudat or after u come back from Kudat. It is quite a distance from Kudat.

We reached Kudat around 3.30pm and checked in Ria Hotel (thanks again Freddie for the arrangement) and rest before we drive to Tg Simpang Mengayau, which is about 15-17kms from Kudat. There is a stretch of gravel road (batu road, no tar) on the way and its adviseable to drive a bit slower. This trip proves its worthiness as you can see from the photos. There is a beach right before the tip and the water is very clear! Much better than Sutera Harbour, I'd say. The waves are awesome for surfing.. and the beach is very nice and relaxing.

We went to Tip of Borneo for photo taking and ended up staying for the sunset. I climbed down to the very tip while hubby stayed up there fearing he would drop his precious D700. hehe..

I took some humble photos of the sunset with my SE Experia. The feeling was awesome standing at the tip overlooking the South China Sea and Sulu Sea (if you still remember your geography lessons). hehe..

We came back to Kudat town looking for food, and found this restaurant full of people, so we stopped by and had our dinner here... we ordered hot plate lamb, house special mix vege, kung pao cockles, vietnamese butter prawn, white rice and drinks all costed us RM68.00 total.

Burrpppp!! We had a very filling dinner and headed back to our hotel to rest after a long journey.

KK-Kudat Trip Day 1

Our flight was at early morning 6.10am. Upon arriving at KK airport terminal 2, we drove over Tanjung Aru (no photos available yet) to the Prince Philip Park. It was a small park overlooking the beach, with yellowish dark sand like ours. Since it was rather early, we just snapped some photos here and left for breakfast.

We passed by this kopitiam and decided to give it a try, since there is a big crowd there. The noodles are priced RM5.50 each plate at the portion similar to our Kuching kampua mee.

After our breakfast, we decided to drove to Sutera Harbour on the way up to KK city.We parked our car at the public parking and walked in through The Pacific Sutera hotel. Sutera Harbour has whiter sand and clearer sea water compared to Tg Aru. After that, we drove around the resort and took some more photo before we stopped by the District Mosque and State Museum nearby that area.

Hubby bring me to Tuaran to have this fried noodle at Sin Man Tai. Actually, he thought of going to Gaya St for lunch, but mistakenly drove to this area. hehe.. the fried noodle was yummilicious at costed RM6 per plate.

After our lunch, we check in at Grand Borneo Hotel at 1Borneo area (a big thanks to Freddie for the hotel arrangement), rest a while before we proceed our journey.

We have a walk-walk-see-see at 1Borneo mall and went down to the city again around 5pm. On the way, we stopped by at the State Mosque (very famous) and down to the waterfront to shoot some sunset photo.

After that, we proceed to Suria KK for lookie as well. It seems like nothing much to see here because a lot of shops are not opened yet.. disappointing though.. we went to Signal Hill Observatory after that to take some night light photo, but it rained.. :(

Since it was raining quite heavily, we decided to head back to our hotel to have our early rest because we will have a long drive to Kudat the next morning.

Sunny Hill Icecream

Its been awhile since I last came here.. ohh... ok.. I just came here few months ago.. but before that it has been years.

My dad used to bring us kids here to have our cold icy treats.. then I myself came with friends for the soft drink floats after class.

This place brings some sweet memories to me still.. and the ice cream itself still tastes like before..

Few years back when I came back here, the ice cream was watery, nothing near the creamy taste before. After a few years I came back, it proved that they are maintaining back the old taste and texture.. the same creamy taste years ago.

While I enjoy, here's photo for you guys to drool over... do please come and have a treat yourself! :)

Nestum cheesecake...

Okay, this sounds so outdated, previously numerous people have done this recipe before.

I got the recipe from internet as well, thought it was easy and thus, I made it. IT WAS AMAZINGLY SUPER DUPER EASY!

ok.. for the texture.. its very moist, soft and creamy, nothing that is similar to the chilled cheesecake I've done before. It isn't dry like layer cake as well.

for the taste, cheesy (of cos...) and mixed with the Nestum aroma that makes your mouth salivate.

overall, its a family favorite type of cheesecake, nothing fancy, just usual ingredients that we can find at home (except for the cream cheese). Do try this. :)

OMG! It's December already??!

December is coming again.. this time for the year 2010..
I've just realized, looking back at the resolutions I made for this year... there are some that I didn't or haven't achieved yet....

1) Complete my thesis by end of December 2010 and hope to graduate by 2011. (Oh shit, should only be able to convo in 2012 then.. )

2) Get a dryer. (Yea, soon, I guess, looking at the gloomy weather lately)

3) Convert the guest room into kid's room probably by June. (It's officially HER room already.. just haven't deco it correctly. HAHA)

4) To get pregnant and have baby Tiger. Hope it's a boy this time. LOL. (Missed Tiger... hopefully not missing Rabbit year)

5) Hope can go to Krabi for a trip sometime. (Still ain't happening yet)

Well, 5 down, 5 more to go... hopefully can achieve it soon!

Oatmeal Baths

Oatmeal baths are well known for their soothing on rashes, chicken pox and dry skin.

You can also prepare your own oatmeal bath.

You may need a cup of oatmeal (depending on the size of your tub, 1/2 cup for baby tub size).
Blend the oatmeal until fine and consistent. Sprinkle the oat powder into the tub of running warm water and stir with your hand to feel the texture. Feel along the bottom of the tub for clumps and break up any you find.

Assist your child into the tub as the oatmeal makes the tub even more slippery than usual. Allow your child to soak in the tub for 15-20 minutes and pat dry with a soft towel rather than rubbing.

You can use this bath once or twice a day or more frequently as your doctor advises.

Been very lazy since coming back from Sibu a week ago. Felt like old age is catching up.

Things haven't gone so smooth since last year, but beginning this year, I started to have some things sorted out. My studies didn't turn out to be as smooth as I wanted it to be, with supervisors leaving and the new supervisor is like invincible (most of the time not around when looking for him) and got scammed by the some other claimed beauty academy on the SLDN course.

Sigh.... so many things have happened lately, I thought of learning some extra skills, but then end up to be a big scam. To be clear here, I've already confirmed with JPK (Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran) that there is no longer fund for the SLDN/MLVK course, meaning that even if I am to take the course, I will have to pay (government will not sponsor).

To those still taking the course, make sure you've clarify with JPK before committing to the academy. I hope the authorities will take action on the academy soon, as I don't want more innocent people to be victimized.

Every time I pass by the academy, I still see parents waiting for their children to finish class and I really pity them. I am not sure whether they know of this situation or not, but then I am starting to take action from the proper authorities. Hoping the academy will refund my balance of deposit RM150, eventhough it is not much, but this is what I deserved to take back.

Barbie Doll Hair Problem

SORRY FOR THE BAD RESOLUTION OF THE PICTURES.. IT WAS TAKEN WITH MY OLD CAMERA PHONE.. :)

My niece passed down an old Barbie doll to my daughter last year. The hair was badly tangled all this while until today I have some time to manage it.

Here's how to detangle your daughter's doll frizzy hair.

First, you need to get ready the doll's hair brush. Here I have three brush. One wide tooth brush, wide tooth comb and the normal small comb. They all came with the original Barbie doll.

Use the wide tooth brush to comb through the doll's hair carefully.

If the doll has curled hair, and you want to start from a fresh straight hair, pour some boiling/hot water over the doll's hair in a big cup and let the doll's hair soak in the boiling/hot water for about 10 seconds. Rinse with cold water.

Next, get ready a bowl or cup of softener. Can be of any brand. Let the doll(s)'s hair soak in softener for at least a few hours, preferably overnight. Make the doll balance bending down stable with it's nape resting on the mouth of the cup and the hair completely in softener solution.

Once, the hair is soft, remove the doll and squeeze off the softener from the hair. Use the wide tooth comb to detangle the hair further. Rinse with cold water and squeeze the water from the hair. Let dry.

IMPORTANT : DO NOT RUB YOUR DOLL'S HAIR WHEN WASH BECAUSE IT WILL TANGLE IT AGAIN AND YOU WILL HAVE TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN.

After the doll's hair is dried, divide the hair into a few parts. Comb the hair using the wide tooth comb first, then the normal one until the hair is smooth. Don't worry if some of the hair comes off as this is common and Barbie dolls have plenty of hair. If you notice the doll is getting 'bald', you can go to the hair salon and buy some fake hair to install.

Kuih bangkit - 1st Attempt

Shows that looks can really be deceiving.. LOL..

I used the recipe I got from Youfei but then couldn't get the right texture. The taste is great, but the texture seems too hard and crispy or the original recipe is like this.

I was very very ~~pissed off~~ excited after the first tray came out very hard to even bite it. I let my hubby and my brother in law tested it.

Hubby : Fail
Brother in law : The taste is correct, but texture is too hard.

Hmm.... I looked and looked again through the recipe properly but couldn't find where I have done wrong. Could it be that I didn't add the flour slow enough or what?

Haiya... sorry la.. in the rubbish bin you go. Hahaha... See you next year!

My Year 2010 Resolution

OMG!! It's already 27th Dec and I've just realised that I haven't done my new year resolution yet.. *ponders*ponders*blink*blink* shit.... hahah..

Okay, after my mind went blank for a few minutes, I managed to think of some thing for next year...

1) ~~By January, must send all my research letter asking for permission to conduct interview and questionnaires~~. Managed to send out some in February.

2) ~~By January, must complete proposal and submit for scholarship fund.~~ done

3) Complete my thesis by end of December 2010 and hope to graduate by 2011.

4) ~~Complete my beautician cert by middle of 2010 year.~~ course cancelled

5) Get a dryer.

6) Convert the guest room into kid's room probably by June.

7) To get pregnant and have baby Tiger. Hope it's a boy this time. LOL.

8) ~~Jogging and lose that 2kg before CNY!!~~ busy until lost weight. haha..

9) Hope can go to Krabi for a trip sometime.

Perth Trip : Day 4 (1st November 2009)

Today we went for a day trip at Swan Valley.

This area is famous for their wineries, and the wildlife park.

We started our journey at about 10 something in the morning and our first stop was a small winery call Ambrook. We didn't stay for long there, just to look look see see. After that we went to another few wineries and went to a chocolate factory.

After all the wineries visiting and photo taking, we went for lunch break at Hungry Jacks somewhere Midland area.

Lunch was great and we proceed back to Harbortown for some shopping till about 5pm.

Shops were closed after 5pm so we went back to hotel for rest after that.

Perth Trip : Day 3 (31st October 2009)

Today we were invited by relatives for a BBQ event at King's Park.

KC came to fetch us at about 10am to the park. We reached the BBQ pit at Synergy Parkland (King's Park) after stopping for photo taking. The BBQ pit is so much different from ours, as theirs are proper with cover and uses a gas stove. Imagine if we are to build parks like those in Kuching, I think people will steal the BBQ stove. Hahaha...

We sat down chit chat while my daughter had a great time running around the green grass and their big playground for kids. One thing I noticed here is the pathways are mostly wheelchair and stroller accessible.

After our BBQ event, KC drove us to Midland apple farms. There we bought some fruits. There are some fruit gelato for sell as well.

We reached back Perth at about 5 something and went to William St (Chinatown area) for some Chinese food as my in laws were craving for it. The dinner costs us some AUD75 for half roasted duck, some char siu and roasted pork, a pot of stew lamb, a plate of siao bai chai and some white rice.. lol..

most expensive meal during our trip.. :D

After that we went back to rest and sleep for tomorrow is another long day.

Perth Trip : Day 2 (30th October 2009)

Today we woke up at about 8am and went for our breakfast at the hotel's cafe.

After breakfast, we hurry to get ready and pack some food and milk for my daughter, then proceed to Barrack Street Jetty Pier 3 to board our Captain Cook Cruise along Swan Lake.

On way of the cruise basically takes about 1 1/2 hours from Perth to Fremantle.

Australia's most expensive house... costs AUD35 million.. OOoooOO

We reached Fremantle port and went for some shopping at the E-Shed Market. The souvenir there are much cheaper than the price you get in the city later.

We reached the E-Shed market at about 2 something to buy our souvenirs and board our cruise back to Perth CBD.

The cruise back to Perth offers a free tasting of their wine.

We reached hotel at about 4 something, and went back for a short rest and bath before proceeding for our dinner. While walking about Barrack Street up to Wellington Street, we saw a restaurant full of people, so we decided to give it a try. It was Taka Japanese. The food was quite nice, with the price quite reasonable. Service was fast too. Kudos to them. Regret that we didn't post up photos here because we were too hungry and ate it up before thinking to take anymore photos.

After our dinner, we decided to go to Harbortown. But then the CAT bus only operates till 6.00pm, so, we went to Hay St Mall. There were lots of shops inside Hay St Mall but nothing to buy because after converting, it's not worth to buy.. Hahaha...

At about 8 something we went back to hotel and rest.

Perth Trip : Day 1 (29th October 2009)

I know, it's been more than a month and yet I haven't post out the photos for this trip. I myself waited until my neck long long, hahaha...

We arrived Perth International Airport at about 5.20am and after gotten our luggage through AQIS (the declaring and quarantine part) we came out at about 6.30am. In Perth, the skies are already bright at 6.30am and the air is very fresh.

My parents in law went to Vernon's house for breakfast while me, my hubby and daughter with all the luggage went straight to the hotel to put down our luggage and rest a bit. KC drove us from the airport to the hotel to put down the luggage. After sitting down to rest a bit, we started walking from our hotel straight down to the Barrack St Jetty to take the ferry to Mends St Jetty.

The morning air is really fresh and cooling, so, we didn't felt tired or hot eventhough the sun is quite bright. Streets are very well organized with pedestrian crossing. We reached the jetty at about 8.45am and took the ferry straight to Mends St Jetty to regroup with my in laws.

The ferry costs us AUD1.70 per adult (free for kids below 5 years old) and it was a quick 10 minutes trip to the other side. When we reached Mends St Jetty, our in laws were there already with Vernon. So, Vernon drive them to the Perth's Zoo while we walked through the street for a better look.

The Perth Zoo entrance is actually AUD20.00 per adult but we got in for free (thanks to KC).

I must say, I am very impressed at how they maintain this zoo, and compare to our Malaysia Zoo, this is so much better and clean! I bet if you ever been here, you wouldn't want to visit our national zoo anymore. Hahaha...

We took about 3 hours to walk to most parts of the zoo and didn't even seen all of it! The zoo is very big!

We decided to go back to the hotel to check in at about 1pm and see if we could go to Scitech later. After going back to hotel, we rest a while and decided to buy some sandwich from Subway next door for lunch and rest for the day as my in laws were pretty tired from walking.

Nothing much ado from here as the shops were closed after 6pm so we just have a brief walk at Hay Street and went back to the hotel for rest.

The new Mr & Mrs Terry Ng 16102009

Lately not watching any particular tv series.. Partly, nothing interesting to watch on the telly, and partly trying to cut down my time to prepare myself for part time job and studies in full blast.

Few weeks ago, I watched this cartoon series with my daughter, and honestly, it is quite cute and funny. This cartoon is now broadcast on Momo Kids channel about 3-4 times per day. Watch to enjoy!

Why my MSN messenger cannot online?

Couldn't log in a few times to my MSN today. Felt a little frustrated so I try to google online to find what are the methods to fix it..

Firstly, I downloaded the new setup from here to my desktop

http://download.live.com

If you can't download or have some problem downloading from the site, I can email to you my copy provided you give me your email.

My lappie is using Vista, so if you are using XP, Mac of Linux, it might be slightly different. If you are using Windows XP or Vista, please make sure your PC or lappie is updated, or if you have not updated, please do so before this. Just open the Windows Updater and update your windows.

For your information, your windows updater icon can be found at your taskbar in form of something like a blue paper with painting color (for Vista) or red color armor shaped (for XP).

Open it will give u this menu. Just install updates..

After downloading the setup file and updating your windows, make sure you close or exit your MSN messenger, or any other programs that might clash with it.

Once you open the setup file, it will show u some menu and options..

Just click on install...

The installing process will take about 30 minutes or more, depending on your internet speed.

After finish installing online, just click close.

Now try to restart your messenger to online. It should be okay already.

Restaurant City New Levels and Garden Plot

RC updates two days ago, new levels up till 32, right now I'm at level 30.

Now we can plant our own ingredients and harvest it 2 days later.

Here are some steps for those who haven't try.

The garden plot is at the upper right corner of the window. There are 9 squares in the garden plot.

Click on one of the squares will give you this pop up.

Click on the tick, and you will have a seed planted. One seed costs 2000 coins each.

In order for the seed to grow, you must water it. To water the seed, just click on the seed and you will see water dropping on it. Now, there's two time showing. One is the water level, and one below shows the time before you can harvest it.

Continue to water the plant occasionally before the soil gets dry. If the soil gets dry, the plants will not grow.

Once the plant is fully grown, it is ready to harvest, you can click on it and get your items already. :)

After harvesting, the plots will return to empty plots and you can plant new ones again.

I've got mine. :))

It's a Monday.. err....

When I was still working.. Monday felt like this...

Every morning I have to drag myself to office.

Felt like Garfield's symptom all over me.. oohh.. the laziness... Hahaha...

Now, am not working anymore, I still dreaded when the week started on Mondays, which means that I have to do my homework and pass it to my lecturer for discussion. Sigh.....

After I resigned, which was 2 months ago, I went for morning jog. It refreshed my mind in the mornings, which I really enjoyed it although I get knee pain once in a while. Then, the haze arrived.. sighs...... I stopped jogging... and now H1N1, SIGHS...................

I realized that I haven't been jogging for a month!! No wonder my body is having lots of aches of slowing down. I would really like to jog again, but then the sun is too bright and I also don't want to risk my health over that pandemic... I need to get up and move myself, otherwise I'll be lazying in bed again. LOL. Doing housework pulls me down and makes me lag..

I think maybe I'll have to visit the bookstore and read some books... Other than that... still...

HAHAHAHA...

Facebook Restaurant City by Playfish

Are you addicted to this latest craze in FB? Hahahaha..

Symptoms are:

1. Keep your browser open for level up for at least 4 hours per day.
2. Checking on your restaurant for rubbish and your workers for feeding or rest.
3. Announcing in FB for ingredient trading.
4. Keep adding new friends to get the first visit free ingredient.
5. Irritated when it's down for maintenance and you still can't log in after half an hour's time.
6. Angry when the line is down and you didn't managed to save the game, block the door and make your workers rest before then.

I know I have some of the symptoms above and not really addicted as some people are... hehe.. btw, I leveled up to 17 in about 10 days.. haha.. that's fast huh?

Once you are on this game, there's no turning back... you're hooked for good. There's only 27 levels, so, nothing to lose. Once you are at level 16, it gets longer to level up as you need more GPs.

Hey, I got to go.. check on my RC status.. heheheh...

Misunderstandings....

It happens, all the time and especially when a person only listens to one party's story. In this case, it happens to me. People assume that I am just a cold blooded lady who doesn't appreciates friends. I only look tough on the outside, and when times are rough, I just felt so timid. I've learned my lesson here.. :(

However, to those who thinks I only have them as friends, please take note, I have lots of friends, and not you only. So whatever I said here might not be you unless you go tell everyone I was talking about you. A blog is a place where people writes their feelings, their daily lives or anything they want.

Even if I sound harsh here, I still bear in mind to keep certain level of privacy to that person and didn't mention the exact scenario and no names were mentioned.

To those hurt after reading it or those who thinks I involved in this blog, then I would have to apologize to you in any terms that you felt that it was you that I spoke of. If you are always hurt by people's post occasionally, then maybe you will have to analyze yourself why you are feeling that way and should be not very suitable for reading people's blog and post for you have a weak heart.

Yesterday was the worst day of my life after so long.

Firstly, I received a rather angry email from someone I see as friend, say my actions were childish, I was depressed, jealous of her and another two better friends than with me and moreover accused me of something I didn't do!

I was wrongly accused, no apology being made and not even a single word from them since last night. However, I don't need any sarcasm from them anymore, not even a word. I just ask for them to stop whatever they are doing that hurts me. I cried all my sadness out as I felt really hurt by people whom I treat as friends, and yet they treat me like shit in this case. After I cried, it felt better and I really thank friends for comforting me when I need it. :)

To my hubby, thanks for believing in me, it really makes so much difference. Thanks for your support I am standing back again.

I'm feeling very low, real low...

Why? Because in my mind, there are some people whom I considered as my good, close friends, and yet they are not being honest with me. I hate people holding things back from me...

I don't know how to describe this feeling, it feels sad, really down, felt like odd one out..

Perhaps I'm just not good enough to be a part of their gang.. perhaps I'm being sensitive.. or maybe perhaps I wasn't even their good friend..

Oh well, life has to go on, with or without them. It taught me to be stronger and wiser. I'll maybe forget it after a few days letting the wound to heal itself.

Egg Tart

Craving for egg tarts lately and haven't found the best egg tart in Kuching. They are either too expensive or too small for my liking. So, I decided to search for the egg tart recipe online and found this link, Aunty Yochana

I've basically lessen the sugar as I'm using castor sugar. One recipe makes about 17-22 pcs, depends on the crust thickness.

It's been nearly 6 years I've worked here... never knew I could stay that long in this company. If I told you that I will not miss a thing in this office, I'll be lying. Haha... there were still happy times there.

I guess the most I missed were close colleagues laughing at my silly jokes, and enjoying buying breakfast for them.. :D Of course there are times when certain colleagues gets on your nerves or stab you in the back.. Politics are always around in most offices.

Thanks to Mary, Sieo Wei, Yunita, Ros, Su Ling, Janet, Ah Bun, Kelvin, Aaron, Ho, Doreen, Lee Peng, Rosalind & Mr. Lim for being great colleagues. Chow Hwa, will miss your jokes also. There are too many colleagues to be listed here, but you know who you are! Lastly, many thanks to Hong for being understanding and support these few years.

So, right now, I'm just staying at home, looking for things to do, and searching for part time job while waiting for next month to register for my studies.

Bored.. hehehe...

KL - Cameron Highlands - Langkawi Trip (Part 3)

2nd May 2009

We reached Langkawi at about 1pm. It was cloudy day and raining a bit when we reached there. After renting our car, we checked in at Bayview hotel, Kuah town an hour later. The drive from airport to Kuah town was about half an hour and we passed by Makam Mahsuri and Snake Sanctuary.

Bayview hotel room... spacious and nice, but then smell on the carpet outside is a bit turn off..

After checking in the hotel, rest a bit, we went out to drive around Kuah. We stopped by Eagle Square to take photos of the trademark of the island, The Big Eagle. However, the weather wasn't good enough for hubby to take a good photo, so, I just walked around, while hubby took some random photos. There are a few stalls selling souveniors, t-shirts and bikinis at quite affordable prices.

Not much to see here, we straightly went to the nearby Langkawi Fair Shopping Centre and Billion Duty Free Supermarket. Thinking it was a big area, so, I thought to give it about half a day to walk around.. but then when we reached there, it looks more or less like the size of Electra House Kuching. Hahaha... We bought some chocolates here. We haven't eaten anything since 11 something, so, look for early dinner there and the only restaurant there is McDonalds. We ate there while waiting for the rain to stop. After the rain stopped, we went to Teow Soon Huat Duty Free Supermarket. The concept is almost the same with Billion, just bigger.

Here we bought some more chocolates and some alcohol to bring back. We went back to the hotel around 8.30pm as there is nothing else to do in this small town.

3rd May 2009

Still raining... but then heavier today. Woke up early and ate breakfast at the hotel's coffee house. The breakfast is quite okay, they have some variety of food for guests. After breakfast, we packed some clothes and food just in case we are going for island hopping in the afternoon. We started driving at about 9am to Pantai Chenang area. Actually meant to go to the Mahsuri Exhibition Centre, but then it was closed down for renovation, so, instead we drove around that area and my hubby took some random photos again. We drove from Awana Resort Porto Malai till Sheraton Langkawi Beach Resort at Pantai Kok.

About 11.30am, we went to the Underwater World. Entrance is RM28 for adult and RM18 for children (with MyKad only). What I can say is this is the most worth it place to be in Langkawi. There are many species of marine life to see here and most important is the penguins.

We walked here until about 2pm then to Awana area, as my hubby wanted to go island hopping. Island hopping costs us altogether RM70 for 2 adults and 1 child. After short lunch at the kampung we were off to the island at about 3pm.

Pulau Dayang Bunting..

We reached Pulau Dayang Bunting first and we have an hour there before the boat come to fetch us again. As it was still raining, we didn't go all the way up to the lake. We just rested at the park bench there with another family until the time comes. Overall, this island is pretty much untouched, meaning no any sort of maintenance has been done and there's only one toilet here... 50 cents per entry!! Also, what they have a lot here is monkeys!! Agressive monkeys!

After Pulau Dayang Bunting, the boat took us to Singa Island, where we can see the eagles. We didn't stop at the island this time, just stayed in the boat and see the eagles catch the fish with their claws.

The last island was Pulau Beras Basah. Now this is the part that I hate most. Not only it has a lot of monkeys also, no toilet here, not even a washroom. If you do need to change clothes after playing in the water, I will tell you there's nowhere for you to change. The only thing they have is a well there for you to wash off the sand and you will have to take your own water to wash. GOSH...

DD had a nice time playing at the beach and I have a hard time washing the sand off...

We went back to Langkawi main island at about 6pm and I swore to myself never to come back again after such horrible experience. Hahaha....

After going back to hotel to wash off the clothes from the sand and have a nice warm bath, we went out to look for some seafood. We drove around and saw this restaurant, Rou Tian, with many people, so we decided to give it a try. Compare to other restaurant, this has a bigger crowd while the rest seems empty. We ordered a crab (RM60/kg), a dish of kampung chicken and some stir fry vegetables. Normally, I would not be able to finish so much food but tonight the food is so nice that we all finished it!

After eating dinner, we decided to call it a night and went back to the hotel.

4th May 2009

The Eagle Square early in the morning..

After checking out from the hotel at about 10.00am, we drove all the way to the airport and return the car. The flight back to KL was quite full. We reached KL at about 1pm and used the bus straightly to Kl Sentral and then coupon taxi straightly back to Setiawangsa. After then, we went back to our friend, Eng's house to unpack and went to have lunch and buy some groceries for tonight's dinner.

5th May 2009

Eng cooked some breakfast for us today. Nice american breakfast..

After packing our things, we left for the airport and stopped by Putrajaya for some photos.

KL - Cameron Highlands - Langkawi Trip (Part 2)

After eating a quick breakfast and clearing up our things, we proceeded to Brinchang about 9.30am. On the way up, we visited The Smokehouse Hotel and Restaurant. The place is quite old but has beautiful sight, really looks like western countryside holiday home. Very pleasant indeed.

The second picture of the slope looks pretty scary because of the land slide... I guess the resort management should already be looking into it..

Overall, most of the apartments here look pretty similar to me. The air is very fresh and cool up here, I think it's about 20-24°C daily. After venturing the Strawberry Park Resort, we stopped by the Kasimanis Strawberry Farm.

Here, you can also pick your own strawberries and buy cactus here. There are lots of other plants here for sale as well...

At Kasimanis, you can also get nice strawberry juice at RM4.00 per cup. Not too sweet and not too sour.

After this we straightly went to Cactus Valley. Here you can find lots of cactus and flowers.. a very enormous place, and you will have to pay for the entrance. They charged me RM4 per adult, and free for small children.

We spent about an hour here and haven't been able to cover the whole area, partly was because my hubby was busy taking pictures of the cactus and forgot there's some more flowers and strawberry area at the other side.

DD must have her balloon, or else refused to go any further... costs me RM5 and the balloon deflated in less than an hour... thanks to mister cactus.. dang..

We simply have not much time here as we have to rush back to our apartment to check out at 12pm. On our way up to Brinchang again, we stopped by a place selling some plants and souveniers.

After returning the key to the apartment owner, we went for a quick lunch at OK Tuck, Brinchang.

We proceeded to the Simpang Pulai on the way down and passed by a farmers product market.

the lady told me this is Cameron Highland's apple, but it still looks like melon to me.... hmm...

After this stop, we straightly went to Boh Tea Plantation at Sungai Palas.

As DD was asleep in the car, my hubby, brother in law and his friend went down to have a quick photo taking while I stayed in the car.

All along the way down using the Simpang Pulai, there are lots of markets, flower and vegetable farms, strawberry farms and cactus farm.

Simpang Pulai road is much scarier as certain bends are 180° and the slope is quite dangerous compared to the old road, Tapah. However, the roads are wider so, it is easier to overtake cars here. Anyway, I still don't recommend overtaking here...

As Ipoh is just 10km away from Simpang Pulai, we dropped by there to 'look-look see-see' and have our dinner. We arrived nearly 5pm and stopped by Hotel Setesen for rest and washroom.

The hotel is very old and antique and most of the facilities are really run down.. no signs of the hotel being maintained properly. We have a hard time looking for the toilet and it was like running in a maze. The toilet is well hidden somewhere in the corner.. haha..

After this we went for our dinner at Lou Wong.

KL - Cameron Highlands - Langkawi Trip (Part 1)

30 April 2009 (Thursday)

Our flight to KL from Kuching was delayed slightly, partly because the airport was busy with big shots coming back for CM's wife funeral. We arrived at the KL LCCT at about 11.30pm and my brother in law with his friend drove us straightly to Cameron Highlands. It took about 3 hours plus drive on the highway to reach the exit to Cameron Highlands.

The drove up to Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands via Tapah (old route up the mountain) took about another 2 hours because we stopped in the middle for the waterfall, strawberry farm and one tea plantation.

The roads here are very winding, so if you are coming here, please do not drive that fast.... @.@

We reached our apartment at Arabella peak, Tanah Rata somewhere about 6-7pm. The air here is very fresh and cool. After unpacking certain luggage and took a nice refreshing bath, we went to Brinchang for dinner and walk at the night market.

Lost Another Wisdom...

Toothache... for a few days... and when I drank plenty of fluids it was gone.. Suspected that it was my upper right wisdom tooth, I drove to the dentist to have a check.

Ya, my dentist confirmed that it was a rotten wisdom tooth and arranged for an extraction. She gave me anaesthetic jab to get rid of the pain. After 2-3 minutes, she checked on the tooth and knocked on it to test whether I was feeling the pain or not. The pain was gone, so she prepared to do an extraction. A nurse was there to hold my face firm while she pulled out the tooth. In less than 5 minutes, the tooth is out. There was some bleeding but no pain.

Paid RM80 for the tooth extraction, got some gauze pads and painkiller just in case, and quickly drove back home before I get anymore drowsy.

Having to bite on the gauze for the whole afternoon wasn't the nicest thing and your mouth and throat smelt of blood isn't that great either. But at least the pain is gone...

24 hours has passed and still a little dizzy, a little taste of blood in the mouth, but then it's okay.

One thing though, I can only take cool liquid form food from yesterday, and gradually add semi solid when the gum stops bleeding. Feel like a baby now, sheesh....

Removing Black Dots/Spots on Clothes

Molds, which are seen as black dots or spots on T shirts or cloths, appears when damp cloths are kept together overnight. It is hard or impossible to remove.

I had a chance to test this at home this morning. One of my T-shirt has black spots on it. I tested with the mold remover (which was meant for cleaning the washroom walls). I sprayed some on it and quickly rub on the cloth to even it up. The mold was removed quickly, but then the color of my shirt also went off. After removing the black spots, I rinse the shirt and soak it in some bleach, and wash as normal.

Well, the color is still not very even, but at least the black spots is gone. If this is my favorite clothing, maybe I would invest some money on color dye to recolor it again. Haha...

Just for experiment, and this is to feed my curiosity whether it really works or not. Tested and done, I would say it works!

Yes, it's been a while since I last updated this blog. Haven't got the $$ to buy a new camera. To think about it, I will have 3 holiday trips this year, Langkawi, Bali and Perth. Finally, going out from Malaysia this time.

A lot of things has happened lately... too fast to believe! I'm going for further studies, and going to quit from my job of nearly 6 years. I really will miss my colleagues there.

My baking skills have improved and will try to get a camera to post up all the photos here once I have it.

Overall, I think my resolution this year has been pretty much accomplished, I will have to think of new ones for next year. Hehe...

We shared a few plates of food together. I only ate some as I was feeling unwell.

Basically, the main dishes are good, but then I was disappointed with their desserts.. no cheese cake!

After dinner, my hubby took some photos in the hotel and we went back at 9pm.

Chicken Pie

I'm getting more and more busy nowadays to update on my blog. Partly because most of my weekends and holidays are occupied with spring cleaning to prepare the house for the coming New Year.

I made the chicken pie somewhere last Sunday. Got the recipe from Happy Home Baking. She has a lot of nice recipes!

The chicken pie is really tasty (mine doesn't look as nice as hers) and I intend to try again with curry chicken next time... mmm....

Today I have two appointments.... after reunion with friends at Bing, I went back home and straightly get my salad things ready for another dinner at my colleague's house, 7pm.

My daughter was not feeling well, so, I left her at home with her daddy (she was supposed to come with me). I didn't take much pictures this time as I was busy and quickly eating the nice steamboat and to leave earlier to monitor my daughter.

Me and my colleagues had a great time chatting away before I have to leave at 8.15pm. They continued till 11pm.

Reunion with UNIMAS friends at Bing

My old time friend, Amelia came back for Christmas holidays last week and we had a brief reunion with other friends as well...

I straightly went there after work on Saturday and ordered my food once arrived. Too hungry then, I ordered one blueberry smoothie and beef lasagne.

Managed to get a group photo before leaving the place at 4.15pm. It was a nice and small reunion. Thanks to all friends who came.

My Spoilt Vietnamese Costume

My mother came and pass me back my spoilt 2 piece dress. I kinda forgotten about it as it was spoilt 4 years ago.

To recall back, the beads were all dissolved during dry cleaning process. I still remember the horror when I got back my clothes from the laundry shop. Nearly cried because this clothes not only costs me a lot of money, also, it helped me to win a small prize for costume contest at a charity dinner.

You will call me crazy, but I am sending this clothes back for dry cleaning again, to see if they can help me remove the rest of the stains that the beads caused. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this time... also to remind the laundry shop that I want it dry cleaned again. :)

So, I took off all the beads and beneath the beads clearly shown the stain from the beads that melted in the dry cleaning. In fact, the marks are all over the clothes. If dry cleaning doesn't help, I'm going to redye it.

Here's wishing me luck!!

Winter Solstice (Dong Zhi)

Today, Chinese celebrates the Dong Zhi. Most people celebrates it by having sumptous dinner and tang yuan (glutinous rice balls) with family members.

This is what tang yuan looks like.

Mostly people will cook it in hot sweet ginger syrup, mine is cooked with sweet syrup and added pandan leaves for the sweet smell.

Here's wishing all family and friends Happy Dong Zhi, tuan tuan yuan yuan.. ping ping an an. :)

Raining raining and raining

It has been raining for a few days in a row.

The damp clothes are getting more and more... Had no other choice but to hang them in the guest room and aired it dry with air cond.

Just today my mother in law is complaining on the perspiration odor on my hubby's t-shirts again. (Damn... does she know how to shut up?) I've no other ideas other than soak in the clothes longer with detergent, so, I browsed the internet for help..

A lot of bloggers say to soak the smelly shirts in either white vinegar or salt and hot water. I choose to soak it in salt and hot water, since I do not have any white vinegar at home. Hopefully the t-shirt will not be smelly anymore and save me from complaints... sighs..

Irenelim Fashion

I bought some clothes about 2 weeks ago from Irenelim Fashion. Honestly, I am very skeptical when it comes to buying things online, not to mention buying clothes online! I am very impressed, so to say, with the material and the sewing on the dress from Irene.

I bought altogether 2 dresses and 1 blouse in one go! One I've given to my sister to which she also like it. :) And now, to the dresses.

Elegant Office Wear

I like this one the most... simple, elegant and just good for wearing to work. When I wore it, it just fits to me nicely like tailor made. I'm glad that I bought this one, can't find this pattern anywhere at my home town either. Okay.. the details...

Basically, there are a few details that I like about this dress...

1. The design and color..

3. The satin skirt, material and sewing work is very good compared to other online boutiques...

Sleeveless Long Blouse

This is also my favorite, simply because it can cover my tummy... and I can pair it with a pair of jeans or black leggings with a thick belt.

Orange Muffin

It supposed to be Mandarin Orange Muffin but I improvised the recipe into Sunkist Orange Muffin and lessen the sugar by 20g.

It came out not as pretty as the original recipe, but then still taste pretty good..

Butter Cookies

I made these butter cookies in the morning. It was really nice that my daughter ate 4 pieces in one go. :)

The recipe suggested using a cookie press (or pump) but then I just mold the dough into round balls and press it on my palm. My colleagues will have the luck to try this tomorrow morning... hehehe...

Basically, it was a bit dry or the cookie is a bit harder... not like the melt-in-your-mouth taste.

Pineapple Tart - 1st attempt failed

Teddybear Shortbread

The shortbread came out pretty good, I did my own shaping and decorating... hehehe... the teddy bear was one of the many shapes I did for this recipe. It is just nice for those who do not like it too sweet.

Kuih Makmur (Momo) - 1st attempt

Tested my new oven for this recipe. First tray came out charred because I wasn't so familiar with an electric oven yet (previously used a gas oven) and that it is the first time I bake this recipe.

However, the 2nd tray came out okay as I've adjusted the temperature and the timing. Just found out that this cookie gets browned easily. Haha...

Well, I only did half of this recipe as I wanted to test it first. Didn't took any photo of the results although it came out alright, but then I want it to be more perfect before I got it on here.

I got this recipe from internet... some one called Aleckii answering someone enquiry for this recipe in Yahoo.

Here's tried and tested!

Ingredients:
150g Ghee
50g Milk powder
250g Flour
100g Icing sugar

For dusting:
Icing sugar

Mix all the ingredients well in a bowl (with your fingers). Forming it into small rounded shapes are difficult, but press into it using your fingers until you get a rounded shape biscuit.

Useful tips : To harden the sticky dough for easy shaping, keep the dough in the fridge for at least 8 minutes. Flour your hand and quickly shape the dough into round balls before the dough softens and gets sticky again.

Bake in a preheated oven at 150 degrees Celcius for 15 minutes. Make sure it doesn't turn brown!

In my case, I used upper heater of the oven at 110 degrees celcius for about 6-7 minutes and turned off to only heater for 5 minutes to avoid charring.

Leave cool and dust it in icing powder.

Prepares about 100-140 biscuits, depending on size.

I Bought An Oven!

Yes, I did. And bought it BIG size. 40 Litres. I did bake last time, using a gas oven back at home ages ago and it was a big one. Never did I thought that I bought new one for my own use would be that big.. It is Morgan Brand electric oven, bought it at Mega Audio in less than half an hour. Didn't even browse other shops... so confident huh? :D Like any other ovens, it comes with two wire rack, one bake tray, tong, rotisserie handle and bar, butterfly handle and thumbscrew. Well... here's happy baking to me and hope I can surprise you guys with lots of bakery stuffs in the future! :)

Wedding Invitation Cards

Some people wants it very nice, unique. Some people just prefer it simple just to state down the details. There are lots of considerations to be bear in mind.

1. Your budget
2. Who are your guests
3. Number of guests invited
4. Your preference

Of course, there's nothing like cheap, nice and pretty (in Hokkien; you pi, you chee). Unless you managed to find a freelance in Kuching doing invitation cards. Otherwise, prices at Banana Greeting will cut your throat with their high prices. And some people could not compromise with the hot stamping cards (red traditional invitation cards with gold letters).

I can say that most people, especially our parents' generation wouldn't want to keep any of the invitation cards after the wedding banquet and many cards would sadly find their way to the garbage...

I'd say, instead of giving out pricy invitation cards, why not indulge in something better for the guest to remember you by. Something like wedding favors in form of sweets, cakes or any other small gifts. I know that people in Hong Kong give out vouchers of cakes in their wedding cards. Haha.. different from our culture, ya?

What's your option anyway? Nice pretty cards or traditional cards? :)

Really I am....

Worried of losing my job and worried of not enough money to use... the global crisis has definitely hit us badly... I'm pretty sure it happens to almost everybody.

I do really hope that things will be next year, although it's going to be bad (confirm it will)... I pray to God to give me the strength to go through this difficult and bad times... and also to all my friends and family to have a smooth sailing year ahead...

My Kelisa Does Not have a Rear Seat Belt

I bought my car in 2004 in an auction by Ambank. The model is year 2003, a manual gear basic Perodua Kelisa. It was still brand new when I bought it, just the CD player and one side of the wiper being detached from the car.

One thing I never take notice is, it doesn't have any rear seat belt. Dang...

Yes, it does have the anchorage at the sides for seat belts, but NO... no seat belts attach...

I've called up Perodua garage and asked for their rear seat belt installation price... reply : RM700+..

WHAT THE ....???!!! RM600+ for something that you guys didn't install in the car and I have to pay for it???

Eventhough government has specified that Perodua car owners will get their installation for free next year, I wonder if it meant we owners get the rear seat belt + installation free or just the installation free?? Hmm...

I shall wait for next year to see whether it's free or else, nobody gets to sit at the back! Dang again.....

I came across this online boutique on the net today.



Basically their range of clothing is very different from other most online boutiques. Prices is a bit on the high side, but then it's worth it as I can see the materials are better and the dresses are unique.
